Know your resin

Everything on this site in plain language — what hash is, how it's made, and how to judge it before you spend a cent.

The forms

01 / TAXONOMY
№ 01 — KIEF

Loose trichomes

Dry flowers tumbled over fine screens shed their resin glands as golden powder. Screen size matters: 120μ catches heads plus debris; 73–90μ is where the purity lives. Kief is the raw material for every pressed hash on earth.

№ 02 — DRY SIFT

Refined kief

Kief re-screened again and again — sometimes with static tech, where a charged surface pulls pure heads away from plant matter — until only trichomes remain. Top-grade dry sift melts like water hash.

№ 03 — PRESSED HASH

The classics

Heat, pressure and handwork turn sift into Moroccan-style slabs or Nepalese temple balls. Pressing ruptures trichomes and starts a slow cure that changes flavour for months — like aging cheese or wine.

№ 04 — CHARAS

Hand-rubbed, living plants

The oldest technique: palms rubbed over living flowers until resin builds into dark, sticky charas. Labor-intensive, low-yield, unmistakably floral. One tola (11.7g) can take a full day.

№ 05 — ICE WATER HASH

Cold, clean separation

Flowers washed in ice water; brittle frozen trichomes snap off and sink through graded mesh bags (220μ down to 25μ). Nothing touches the resin but water, ice and gravity. The pinnacle grades come from 73–120μ bags.

№ 06 — FULL MELT

The six-star standard

Hash graded one to six stars by how it melts. Six-star "full melt" bubbles and vanishes with zero residue — pure trichome heads, dabbable like rosin. Anything that chars and leaves ash is cooking grade.

"You can fake a name and a story. You cannot fake the melt."

Terpenes, decoded

02 / FLAVOUR
MYRCENE

Earth & mango

The most abundant cannabis terpene. Musky, herbal, ripe mango. Also found in hops and lemongrass. High-myrcene profiles read heavy and classic — old-world hash territory.

LIMONENE

Citrus rind

Bright, sharp, unmistakable lemon-orange zest. Lifts a profile the way acidity lifts a dish. Dominant in modern candy and fuel strains.

β-CARYOPHYLLENE

Black pepper & spice

Woody, peppery warmth — the same molecule that bites in cracked pepper and cloves. The backbone of most traditional pressed hash flavour.

α-PINENE

Forest floor

Pine needles and rosemary. Reads clean and sharp; heavy in hand-rubbed charas and mountain cultivars.

LINALOOL

Lavender

Floral and soft, shared with lavender and coriander. Rounds the edges of spicier profiles.

TERPINOLENE

Green apple & lilac

Complex, fresh, slightly sweet — rare as a dominant terpene and prized when it is.

Judge before you buy

03 / THE CHECKLIST
SMELL

Loud or nothing

Good hash announces itself through the bag. Faint smell means old, badly stored, or cut. Ammonia smell means mould risk — walk away.

TOUCH

It should give

Quality pressed hash warms and softens between fingers. Rock-hard slabs that snap like plastic are usually loaded with contaminant or ancient.

FIRE

The melt test

A small piece on a hot surface should bubble and melt. Crackling, sparking or black smoke means plant matter or worse. Clean melt, clean product.

PAPER

Lab or it didn't happen

Every serious producer tests. Ask for the certificate of analysis: cannabinoid %, terpene profile, heavy metals, microbials. We publish ours per lot.
